First Week

Life at Empire Fitness in the eyes of a “Newbie”

I have been training at Empire Fitness for around a week now.  Chris asked me to write something about what I thought of his training facility and himself as a trainer. I first met Chris at a course he runs for Humber College called Defensive Tactics.  I could tell that his approach to training would be similar to the course he teaches, no bullshit, no complaining but very open and in depth. I also saw Chris’ name pop around from the seminars he does at other gyms, so I thought I’d check out his place.

First off I’d like to say I’ve only been to one other gym that has an established membership following and still accepts new members with open arms.  I wasn’t even there for a full day and was already invited to a gym BBQ where everyone was friendly and open.

Now down to brass tacks and what counts most, training.  I’ve programmed my own training now for about a year and a half, and was very apprehensive of being given a cookie cutter program that didn’t suit my goals.  However, that was not the case.  Chris and I sat down after an intensive assessment of my strengths and weaknesses and talked about what my goals were and a time line to the attainment of said goals.  I was totally sublime with the conversations we had and the knowledge he has to help me.

Another thing I found amazing about Empire fitness is the daily warm up, I can already feel aches and pains disappearing and it’s only been a week, my muscle endurance has improved, flexibility has improved and the ten minute ab “warm up” is a killer. As far as programming the workouts; thus far they have been hard and effective, I can see how a person is going to get bigger, faster and stronger. The workouts are actually fun too.  You are not doing a repetitive program.  It’s actually different.

One of the biggest things that makes this training facility different is its actually fun to train again, Chris is a great guy.  He can dish out a good joke but take one back which makes it more fun and not feeling that you are being babysat. I’m very interested to see where this training leads me in a month, three months, to a year. I expect to be a badass Viking within a year.

In Her Own Words:
Being physically active and in shape has always been a part of my life. Building and maintaining a well-toned body requires dedication to a regimen of cardiovascular exercise and weight training; along with compliance to a healthy diet. I began to find my workouts had not only become boring, but I found myself having to work harder in order to achieve the same goals. I was already fit but lately progress at the gym seemed to slow down and plateau. Understanding the benefits of regular exercise and healthy eating, I remained motivated and thought I could push myself further, but needed someone to take me to the next level.

Christopher was the answer. He introduced me to a weight training regimen that would help me reach my goals and to my surprise, he taught me new things, explained the science behind the activity and ultimately pushed me beyond my limits. Christopher customizes each program to me and changes it when necessary. He always makes sure that I know EXACTLY how the exercise is done properly, so I can do it right and get the maximum benefit.

My workouts with Christopher have allowed me to improve my physique by working out smarter and more effectively. No time or energy is wasted.  Whether you’re a serious athlete or long term fitness advocate who has trained on their own for years, a workout with Christopher will most definitely be challenging, yet rewarding. My results are no longer just good, they’re great…..thanks Christopher
